Amsterdam - Maritim to change the Skyline of the Dutch metropole

Tuesday, September 30, 2014.

The tallest hotel in downtown Amsterdam will become a Maritim Hotel and will also be the largest congress hotel in Holland. The Maritim Hotel Group has just signed a rental agreement to construct a First Class Hotel in one of the best areas of the city of Amsterdam. The 34 floor hotel will be the highest in the city and will be located close to the main railway station on the old Shell headquarters. The view from the top will take in the old city and the famous port. Some of the highlights will include a large VIP Lounge on the top floor for special events and a spectacular Sky Bar. The Maritim Hotel Amsterdam  will have 579 rooms and suites (alone the President Suite will be 340 sqm in size). Maritim’s USP for this hotel and this  location will be that it offers the largest conference facilities in the city. This will include a large conference room for up to 4,750 delegates. Above this there will be other conference rooms for 2,300 delegates, a smaller room for 1,300 people and a further 17 conference rooms offering the latest international technical equipment. Within the location Maritim will offer six private business offices, each 50 sqm in size.

Within the complex there will be a separate floor offering spa facilities including pool, sauna and steam room with a modern gym and an open roof terrace.

For our international guests there will be a large selection of food and beverage outlets. This will include a buffet restaurant, a Sushi Bar and a Tapas Bar. (3 restaurants and 2 bars in total)

The Maritim Hotel Amsterdam will be located in the trendy district of Overhoeks, directly on the river IJ. From the main railway station the hotel will operate a boat-shuttle free of charge and 24 hours a day, making it ideal for conference and business and leisure guests. For those guests arriving by car the hotel will have 450 spaces directly in the city centre.

Dr. Monika Gommolla, chairlady of the Maritim Hotelgroup, comments: “This location in one of Europe’s key metropoles is a further step in our wish to offer a 4-star-hotel with the largest conference facilities in Holland. This hotel, due to open in 2018 has been designed by the star architect office „Team V“, giving us a foot hold in our key market expansion plans, similar to our offering in Berlin, where we operate the largest conference hotels.

The Maritim Hotelgesellschaft is Germany’s largest owner-managed hotel group and the company’s nationwide hotel network is complemented by hotels in seven countries overseas: Mauritius, Egypt, Turkey, Malta, Spain, China and Latvia. The group’s ongoing expansion continues to strengthen its position within the European first-class hotel industry.
