Maritim Hotels – A story of success
Inspired by the invigorating breezes, sandy beaches and brilliant sunshine, it did not take long for its founder to come up with the perfect name for the first hotel opened at Timmendorfer Strand beside the Baltic Sea: Maritim. Indeed, what began in 1969 with the unique concept of “meetings and accommodation under one roof” has since developed into Germany’s largest owner-managed hotel group.
Bad Salzuflen (Germany) - Tuesday, June 21, 2016.
Philosophy
The Maritim hotel group enjoys an excellent reputation throughout the industry and is the most widely recognised of all German hotel groups. Maritim stands for superior comfort, first-class ambience, fine dining, personal service and hospitality, combined with relaxation, a wide selection of activities, extensive conference facilities and highly professional events services. The focus is always on the guest's well-being.
Maritim has specialised in the meeting and conference segment right from the start, assuming a leading position in this field within the European hotel industry. Resort hotels and spas have also featured in the Maritim portfolio from the very beginning. Overseas, Maritim currently has 14 hotels located in six countries. International expansion continues at a rapid pace, and Maritim now runs 48 hotels, featuring a total of round about 15,000 rooms. Top sites in central locations are one of the cornerstones of the company’s success. In addition to a diverse range of leisure options, each hotel offers separate conference and events facilities. Wellness areas provide the perfect place to relax after a meeting. Activities such as Nordic walking, mountain biking and golf, together with cultural highlights and opportunities for fine dining, also form integral components of Maritim’s weekend and holiday packages. The Maritim Golfpark Ostsee – a superb 27-hole golf course – awaits guests in Warnsdorf, near Timmendorfer Strand.
Company expansion in Germany
With its extensive conference and events facilities, the Seehotel Timmendorfer Strand laid the foundations for Maritim’s success story in 1969. Additional hotels were subsequently opened beside the Baltic coast, as well as resort hotels in the Harz Mountains, the Sauerland and the Black Forest and wellness hotels in spa resorts such as Bad Wildungen and Bad Salzuflen. City hotels designed specifically as conference and business hotels were to follow. Today, Maritim has a presence in all major German cities – from Berlin, Bremen and Cologne, to Frankfurt, Dresden, Stuttgart and Munich. In 2013 the company added the Maritim Hotel Rheinsberg to its portfolio. Idyllically located right on the harbour at the southern tip of the Mecklenburg Lake District.
In addition to extensive modernisation and renovation work, the Maritim Group is constantly pursuing new hotel projects. Maritim Hotels is to run a new 217-room establishment in Ingolstadt. It will offer its guests a main restaurant for 200 guests, a bistro, a café and an elegant hotel bar. The opening is planned for 2018/19.
Conferences and events with Maritim
The motto “meetings and accommodation under one roof” has been an integral component of the company’s philosophy since the very beginning. Many different companies and associations have been placing their trust in Maritim’s conference expertise for years. As an experienced specialist for major events, meetings and conferences, the company has established itself as an important partner for customers from the worlds of politics, business and society. Spacious conference halls and perfect organisation by the staff have made Maritim the biggest private conference and events specialist in Germany. Maritim frequently offers the largest capacities in the entire region. In 2011, with the nationwide Maritim Catering Service, Maritim presented all the services that the company offers outside its own hotels. Some hotels are directly connected to the local congress centres, as is the case in Frankfurt, Stuttgart, Bremen, Ulm and Dresden, where these facilities are also operated by Maritim. Other conference centres are directly integrated into the hotel building. The largest hall at the Maritim Hotel Bonn can accommodate up to 2,800 people, while the Maritim Hotel Berlin is able to host major events for up to 5,800 participants. Its largest hall alone is able to cater for some 3,090 people.
The modern Maritim Hotel Düsseldorf opened at Dusseldorf airport in 2007 and is the largest conference hotel in North Rhine-Westphalia. It features 533 rooms and suites, and can host events for up to 5,000 people in its two large halls and 21 conference rooms and meeting suites. The largest hall is able to accommodate 2,450 guests. The hotel affords direct access to the airport terminal.
